Four 5-star hotels, the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, the Tivoli Vitoria, the Hilton Vilamoura and Lake Resort are launching a new venture called Vilamoura Meetings with the aim of promoting the region as a destination for congresses and events. With their combined accommodation potential, 22 meeting rooms and a congress centre capable of catering for 1,300 people they are seeking to promote this area of business in Vilamoura in the Algarve on a Europe wide scale, more specifically for speciality holidays.
Vilamoura Meetings "will offer an overall quote for the different prices at the hotels and will provide all types of service", said Jorge Beldade, Director of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura. "Just in our hotel, the congress and incentive segments represent 35 to 40% of total turnover and sometimes we even have to turn down events as we do not have enough rooms".
As regards markets, Vilamoura Meetings will be mainly concentrating on Europe and the U.K., Germany, Belgium and Portugal in particular. The venture will also have the support of the Portuguese Tourism Board which will be promoting the name throughout Europe, as the new contracting procedure (for the promotion of tourism) is still under negotiation.
The hotels also want to maximize the fact that they are very close to Faro International Airport and make the supply of this product more appealing through a congress centre which can hold any number from 20 to 1,300 people. Moreover, Vilamoura is also highly regarded for its excellent amenities and leisure attractions, advantages which will also be promoted by Vilamoura Meetings.
